Answering the Call to Sacrifice

Last Sunday, we reflected on our daily lived communion in Christ—our fellowship within His body, marked by the mutual giving and receiving of God’s manifold gifts and grace. Today, I want to revisit that message to encourage deeper personal reflection and strengthen our resolve to embrace the gifts God has entrusted to us. By overcoming self-doubt, we can unlock abundant fruit, not only in our own lives but throughout our community.

A Nation Without Fathers

We are all grieving, just as we did two years ago after the Uvalde shooting, as we learn that a 14-year-old stormed into a Georgia school yesterday, killing two students and two teachers. The most tragic part? We now know he had been making these threats over a year ago. Yet, when investigators questioned his father, they were assured that the boy had no access to weapons and that the online threats weren’t coming from him. And now, once again, the nation is reeling—searching for answers, scrambling to find causes, and begging for some kind of solution to protect our children.

The Safety of Wisdom and Proportion

Even within our own numbers, we frequently ask each other why certain groups fail and what could cause us to lose our way or disintegrate. Generational continuity, keeping the lamp burning, is a primary imperative in our service and obligation to Jesus. “The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps” (Matt. 25:4).
